Chinese company plans to build a technopark and solar power plant in Fergana

A Chinese company plans to build an innovative technology park on 25 hectares in the Fergana region and a solar photovoltaic plant on 500 hectares with an investment of $350 million.

The electricity generated at the station will be used to supply foreign enterprises located in the technopark.

The Technopark aims to produce products based on modern innovative technologies, including software and information technology.

Uzbek home appliance manufacturer Artel joins United Nations Global Compact

This week, Artel Electronics LLC (Artel), Central Asia’s largest home appliance and electronics manufacturer, has become an official participant of the United Nation Global Compact (UNGC). Launched in 2000, the UNGC is a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation, and disclosure of responsible business practices. Artel becomes Uzbekistan’s third company to participate.

Kazakhstani Astana – Motors to produce Hyundai cars in Uzbekistan

The Kazakhstani Astana-Motors company will build a plant for the production of Hyundai cars in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan, the press services of the prime minister of Kazakhstan reports.

This became known during the third Forum of interregional cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Astana Motors has been producing and assembling commercial vehicles and passenger cars since 2019. Currently, the plant's capacity in Kazakhstan is 30,000 units of cars per year.

South Korean company ready to organize cotton-textile cluster in Uzbekistan

South Korean Posco International Textile company has expressed its readiness to organize a cotton-textile cluster in Uzbekistan, reports the press service of Uzbek Uztekstilprom Association.

The issue was discussed during the meeting of the company's management with the chairman of the association.
The company will begin work on the implementation of the project by 2022.

Preparations to tackle the legacy of former uranium mining sites in Uzbekistan can begin, following the signing of a grant agreement today between the Environmental Remediation Account for Central Asia (ERA) and the government of Uzbekistan.

The €2 million grant will support a recently established Project Management Unit (PMU), which will be dealing with the environmental remediation of the former uranium mining sites at Yangiabad and Charkesar, located in the mountains east of the Uzbek capital Tashkent.

The representative stated that ADB assists Uzbekistan with innovative financing instruments such as partial credit guarantees and public-private partnership schemes, consistent with Uzbekistan’s pursuit of engaging private investments in public infrastructure projects.

Turkmenistan to join Turkic Council as observer

Uzbekistan, Turkey sign 24 documents for US $ 679 million

Uzbekistan and Turkey signed 24 documents totaling US$679 million following the results of the Uzbek-Turkish business forum in Tashkent.

In particular, the parties signed 10 investment projects with a total value of US$514.7 million. Also, 15 trade contracts were signed for US$165.2 million.

The Uzbek-Turkish Business Forum was held on 28 June 2021 in Tashkent as part of the visit of the Turkish government delegation to Uzbekistan.
