151 protesters detained in Yerevan since morning


On May 4, the “Tavush for the Motherland” movement began a multi-day march towards the capital of Armenia. On May 9, the procession reached Yerevan. At a rally of thousands in front of the government house, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan demanded the resignation of the prime minister.

As of 11:00, 151 protest participants were detained in Yerevan, Trend reports on Monday, citing a message from the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It should be noted that on May 4, the “Tavush for the Motherland” movement began a multi-day march towards the capital of Armenia.

On May 9, the procession reached Yerevan. At a rally of thousands in front of the government house, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan demanded the resignation of the prime minister.

On Saturday, the opposition also held a rally of thousands in front of the government building. Protesters, at the call of Archbishop Bagrat, blocked several streets in Yerevan and entrances to the capital, in particular Freedom Avenue, Victory Bridge and Tbilisi Highway; actions of civil disobedience also took place in the regions of Armenia. Students from Yerevan State University joined the protests.
