The Academy of National and Information Security - ANIS, (formerly - Higher School of Security and Economics - VUSI), has established a research unit to engage in research work in the field of problems of the Caspian and Black Sea regions.
This was done by a decision of the meeting of the Academic Council of ANIS (then VUSI), held on June 25, 2019, minutes No. 4 of 25. 06. 2019.
After announcing the initiative to establish the Laboratory (LPChKR), the Academic Management of ANIS decided, within its capabilities, to include the issue of the security of the Caspian and Black Sea regions, and in particular - the South Caucasus, in its curricula and syllabi.
After consultations with the academic staff of ANIS, started the inclusion of issues of
ethnology and ethnosociology of the South Caucasus; problems of ethno-political and national contradictions in the South Caucasus;
ethnology and ethnosociology of the South Caucasus; problems of ethno-political and national contradictions in the South Caucasus;
the historical aspects of the issue in question;
current geopolitical, geostrategic and geoeconomic problems of the South Caucasus.
The implementation of these intentions is carried out sequentially. The issues referred to above can be included in the courses of existing academic disciplines, and new disciplines can also be created in accordance with the capabilities of the academic staff of ANIS, the parameters of the curricula and syllabi, and the needs of the educational process and the scientific and research activities of ANIS as a whole.
The implementation of these intentions is directly related to the work of the Laboratory for the Problems of the Black Sea and Caspian Region (LPBSCR).
The Laboratory (LPBSCR) participates in the international cooperation between ANIS and foreign educational institutions, with particular emphasis on the opportunities for training in special individual and doctoral programs.
The Laboratory (LPBSCR) also participates in the logistical support of Bulgarian and foreign researchers working in Bulgaria within the framework of some cooperation with ANIS.
The tasks of the Laboratory (LPBSCR) are the following:
Supporting the preparation of students and doctoral candidates at ANIS on the problems of the countries of the Black Sea and Caspian regions.
Research and publication activity on the problems of the countries of the Black Sea and Caspian regions. (Look: https://blacksea-caspia.eu/bg/library ).
Preparation of documents on various issues from the stated problem area, to be submitted to state institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), after appropriate coordination with the academic management.
Attracting students and doctoral candidates from countries in the targeted regions, especially from Transcaucasia, to study at ANIS.
After a decision was made by the academic leadership, the Laboratory's website http://blacksea-caspia.eu/ was created.
The site hosts analytical publications, medium-term analyses, rapid reactions to events, and more.
The LPBSCR supports the work of the bachelor's and master's programs and especially the Doctoral School at ANIS in the areas in which it carries out its scientific research work.
Financing the work of the Laboratory (LPBSCR):
As originally planned, the Laboratory (LPBSCR) is fully self-financed throughout its existence from 2019 to the present. This is done mostly through the voluntary work of its participants. Funds are also periodically attracted from LPHR partners, albeit in a very modest amount.
The Laboratory (LPBSCR) has its own bank account, which it operates within the framework of ANIS accounting.
Currently, the volunteer researchers in the Laboratory (LPBSCR) are:
Teodor Danailov Detchev, Ph.D., Assoc.Prof. – full associate professor at ANIS. He has also taught at the New Bulgarian University (NBU), Veliko Tarnovo University “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” and at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE). Specialist in the field of industrial relations and security, as well as on the issues of Transcaucasia, Central Asia and West Africa. Researcher of contemporary geopolitical and economic realities in these regions. Author of over 80 publications in theabove mentioned research areas.
Daria Krachunova – Nikolieva, Ph.D., Assoc.Prof. – long-time associate professor of history at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and at the College of Tourism (for a certain period – deputy rector of the College of Tourism). Specialist in the field of the so-called “Black Islam”. Author of numerous publications in various fields, including totalitarian political and aesthetic propaganda, as a precursor of modern media and communication phenomena such as “hybrid wars”. Owner and manager of the publishing house “Svyat. Nauka”, which has published over 100 books to date.
Boyana Boyanova Dimitrova, Ph.D., Assoc.Prof. – full associate professor at the University of Technology "St. Cyril and Methodius" and guest associate professor at the Burgas Free University. Specialist in the field of marketing, including in the field of political marketing, hybrid attacks, disinformation and black PR.
Nadia Teodorovna Boyko, Ph.D. – Senior Research Fellow at the Taras Shevchenko Institute of Literature at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal “Word and Time” (Slovo i Chas). One of the main editors and authors of the Encyclopedia of Ukrainian Literature. Fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, Bulgarian and English.
Georgi Stankov, Ph.D., M.Sc. – Master of Psychology, with his own psychological practice in the city of Haskovo. His doctoral dissertation is in the field of political science, and was defended in 2020. In addition to his work as a psychologist, he is involved in creative projects, has his own show on “YouTube” and has a serious scientific interest in psychological traumas caused by participation in military actions and ethnic cleansing. Author of publications on the issues of the so-called historical, transcultural traumas.
Dipl. Eng. Ivan Galabov Galabov, M.Sc. - graduated from the Higher Air Force School "Georgi Benkovski" (HAFS) in the town of Dolna Mitropolia with an educational and qualification degree of Master of Engineering in the civil specialty "Automation and Systems Engineering" and a military specialty, including a specialty for the military-industrial complex - "Aircraft Armament". Master of Industrial Relations and Security from the Higher School of Security and Economics (HSSE), today Academy of National and Information Security (ANIS). He also has additional qualifications from the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a qualification for "Energy Engineer". He is fluent in written and spoken German and English.
Boryana Vasileva Ivanova, M.Sc. – Master of National Security, graduated from the Higher School of Security and Economics (HSSE), today Academy of National and Information Security (ANIS) – with a specialty: “National Security and Counterterrorism”.
Ivaylo Popov, B.Sc. – Bachelor of National Security at the Higher School of Security and Economics (HSSE), today Academy of National and Information Security (ANIS). Co-author of three on the problems of ethnic conflicts and political violence in Southern Caucasus.
