Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev: "We have high hopes for peaceful progress"

During a meeting with members of the government, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stressed that international organizations are aware of the new realities in the region after the war with Armenia in 2020, which resulted in the liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Contacts between Azerbaijan and the European Union have intensified since the war. The European Union has accepted the realities of the post-conflict period. This month, at the initiative of the President of the European Council, Mr Charles Michel, tripartite meetings were held.

We welcome the results of the trilateral meeting held between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on November 26, 2021 in Sochi.

As a result of the meeting, points reflecting position of Azerbaijan have been fully ensured in the Statement signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation.

Azerbaijan: Iran to Conduct Military Exercises Along Border

What Happened: The Iranian army will conduct exercises along the country’s northwestern border with Azerbaijan starting Oct. 1, Bloomberg reported Sept. 30, citing an Iranian military official. The combined arms exercises will reportedly involve armor, drones, artillery, electronic warfare and helicopter units.

Demarcation of Azerbaijan-Russia border may be completed within 2-3 years

Baku expects to complete the demarcation process of Azerbaijan-Russia state border within the next 2-3 years, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told reporters in Baku, “Trend.az” reports Dec. 9.

The minister noted that the issues of border demarcation continue successfully with the Russian side.
