Azerbaijan can become regional leader in terms of supplying low-carbon hydrogen

Owning a combination of factors necessary for the development of the green hydrogen industry, Azerbaijan is set to become a regional leader and a reliable supplier to the EU, Vladimir Rogov, Managing Director and Partner of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), told Trend.

Trans Adriatic Pipeline’s (TAP) expansion could contribute to Europe’s energy transition, Luca Schieppati, TAP Managing Director, said, addressing the Gastech Exhibition and Conference, Trend reports.

“TAP’s expansion capacity is offered to the market through regular market tests. The 2021 market test is in progress with its first binding phase taking place in November,” he noted.

Schieppati went on to add that the industry is now focused on hydrogen to achieve carbon neutrality.

EBRD will help Kazakhstan achieve carbon neutrality by 2060

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Kazakhstan have agreed to develop a long-term cooperation strategy to achieve carbon neutrality of the country’s power sector by 2060. The accord will further cement Kazakhstan's status as a regional renewable energy leader in Central Asia.

The roadmap for the decarbonisation strategy was signed by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev and by EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso on March 31st, 2021, during her first visit to Central Asia’s largest state.
