Construction of TAPI gas pipeline on schedule

At the headquarters of the Turkmenistan Oil and Gas Complex, a reporting meeting was chaired by Vice Prime Minister for the Fuel and Energy Complex (FEC) Miratgeldi Meredova, “Trend.az” reports, citing information from the “Turkmengaz” state concern.

Deputy Prime Minister Meredova has set the tasks ahead of the oil and gas industry.

As a leader of the “TAPI Pipeline Company Limited”, the state-owned “Turkmengaz” concern, which holds the controlling stake, is the principal financier and project manager. The consortium also includes the Afghan Gas Corporation, Pakistan's “Inter State Gas Systems (Private) Limited” and India's “GAIL”.

The consortium, which also includes the Asian Development Bank, is continuing its negotiations with all stakeholders. Different options are being explored to participate in the project, such as shareholders participation in the company, project financing, financing through international development banks, as well as with the help of export credit agencies around the world.

The total length of the TAPI pipeline is approximately 1840 kilometers. The Turkmen section is 205 kilometers long. After that, the pipeline should cross the Afghan cities of Herat and Kandahar (Qandahar)- 816 kilometers; through Pakistan - 819 kilometers, including the cities of Quetta and Multan and reach the settlement Fazilka in India.
