Baku and Ashgabat are negotiating to continue swap gas supplies

Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are negotiating to continue swap gas supplies, the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) reported.

According to NIGC, gas supplies from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan via Iran have been temporarily suspended.

“Baku and Ashgabat are negotiating on this issue,” Iranian media write, referring to NIGC, noting that swap supplies will be resumed after an agreement is reached between the two countries.

The contract on the swap of Turkmen gas to Azerbaijan through Iran is an important and a strategic step, Head of Vienna Energy Research Group in Austria Fereydoun Berkeshli told Shana News Agency, Trend reports.

According to him, if the contract is implemented and continued, it can create a roadmap for gas diplomacy in the region.
