Germany and France support the idea of including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of Iran's army, literally “Army of Guardians of the Islamic Revolution”, also called “Sepah” or “Pasdaran”, ) on the list of terrorist organizations. This was reported by the British newspaper "Financial Times" on Sunday evening, citing sources familiar with the progress of discussions on this matter.

According to their information, Berlin and Paris have spoken in support of the inclusion of the IRGC in the list of terrorist organizations at the recent meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the member states of the European Union. It is assumed that within three weeks, the legal service of the EU will prepare a conclusion on the legality of this measure.

The head of the EU's foreign policy service - Josep Borrell, whom the publication quoted, confirmed that "many member countries support this proposal". At the same time, the newspaper's sources added that France is more interested in recognizing as a terrorist organization not the entire IRGC, but some of its regional units.
