Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are planning to create a joint venture in the railway sector.

As Trend reports, the presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed their support for the initiative to create this joint venture.

It is assumed that the management of the enterprise will be carried out jointly by the railway administrations of the two countries.

KazTransOil boost oil transit from Aktau port to Baku

The volume of transportation of Kazakh oil for export from the port of Aktau amounted to 3.376 million tons from January through 2023, which is 1.108 million tons more than the same period in 2022, stated KazTransOil JSC - the oil pipeline company of the Republic of Kazakhstan that provides services for transporting oil to the domestic market, for transit purposes, and for export.

The diversified economy has never been created in Kazakhstan, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during a meeting with businessmen, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.

"It is possible to conditionally single out two economic turning points,” President Tokayev said. "The first is the transition from the planned economy to the market economy. While experiencing major shocks and suffering losses, Kazakhstan was able to rise and adapt by carrying out hard but necessary reforms."

New PM appointed in Kazakhstan

The Parliament of Kazakhstan unanimously approved the candidature of Alikhan Smailov as prime minister, Trend reports citing the Kazakh media on Jan. 11.

Smailov was nominated for the post of the PM by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

After the dissolution of the Kazakh government on January 5, 2022, Smailov served as acting prime minister.

Previously, Smailov also served as finance minister and first deputy prime minister.

CSTO successfully completes peacekeeping mission in Kazakhstan – President

The CSTO peacekeeping mission in Kazakhstan has been successfully completed, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during the parliamentary session.

According to him, the phased withdrawal of troops will begin on January 13, 2022 and will take about ten days.

We remind you that Tokayev turned to the CSTO in connection with the mass riots in the country, which reached their culmination on January 5, 2022.
