Kazakhstan plans to increase transit volume to 74 million tons

Within the framework of the Concept for the Development of Kazakhstan's Transport and Logistics Potential until 2030, a set of measures for infrastructure development is being implemented. Particular attention is paid to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the eastern route of the “North-South” Corridor.

The volume of transit traffic through Kazakhstan exceeded 34 million tons last year, which is 6 percent more than similar figures for 2023.

As Trend reports, this was stated by the Director of the Department of Transport Policy of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan Nurlan Kenesov.

“80 percent of all transit cargo was transported by rail, 20 percent by road,” he said.

According to him, within the framework of the Concept for the Development of Kazakhstan's Transport and Logistics Potential until 2030, a set of measures for infrastructure development is being implemented. Particular attention is paid to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the eastern route of the “North-South” Corridor.

“By 2030, Kazakhstan plans to increase the volume of transit traffic to 74 million tons,” he said.
