The Port of Baku and Batumi Multimodal Terminal have signed an Agreement to facilitate fertilizer transit via the Middle Corridor, Trend reports referring to the port's message on Twitter.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today between “Baku International Sea Trade Port” CJSC (aka Port of Baku) Trammo Inc., and “Wondernet Express Investment Group”, which owns and operates the Batumi Multimodal Fertilizer Terminal.

“I congratulate everyone on the commencement of gas supply from the Shah Deniz field to the European Union through the Southern Gas Corridor pipeline system,” said Natia Turnava, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, reports 1tv.ge .

According to her, the project is crucial for strengthening Georgia’s energy independence.
