US is exploring potential ways to support bringing Turkmen gas to Azerbaijan, said the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried, Trend reports.

She made the remarks at the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber on “U.S. Policy Towards the Caucasus”.

The independent transmission operator ICGB, which operates the Greece-Bulgaria commercial interconnector, has entered into a natural gas transmission contract with the American company Linden Energy LLC. The agreement is for a period of 20 years.

Linden Energy LLC is a US-based company with strategic interests in the regional natural gas market. The company recently finalized an equity stake in one of Bulgaria's largest natural gas suppliers (“Overgas”) and announced plans to build a regasification facility in Albania.

The IGB gas pipeline with progress in the procedure for issuing a license for operation in Greece

Procedures for commissioning the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector on October 1 are progressing according to schedule. The implementation of the project is in the final stage of realization and administrative procedures for issuing the relevant licenses for exploitation and right of use are running in parallel in both countries.

Azerbaijan names planned volume of gas export to Bulgaria

A meeting between the Minister of Economy and Industry of Bulgaria Nikola Stoyanov and Minister of Economy Parviz Shahbazov took place, Trend reports via Shahbazov's Twitter.

"We discussed the commercial commissioning of IGB Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria and the gas supply to Bulgaria within the expansion of the TAP Trans Adriatic Pipeline. It is predicted that approximately 600 million cm of gas will be exported to Bulgaria by the end of the year," he stated.

Trans Adriatic Pipeline’s (TAP) expansion could contribute to Europe’s energy transition, Luca Schieppati, TAP Managing Director, said, addressing the Gastech Exhibition and Conference, Trend reports.

“TAP’s expansion capacity is offered to the market through regular market tests. The 2021 market test is in progress with its first binding phase taking place in November,” he noted.

Schieppati went on to add that the industry is now focused on hydrogen to achieve carbon neutrality.

IGB connected to the national gas transmission network of Bulgaria

The interconnector with Greece is already successfully connected to the national and transit gas transmission network, as well as to neighboring transmission operators, ensuring the physical transmission of gas. The connection of the infrastructure of the two independent transmission operators for Bulgaria - ICGB and Bulgartransgaz - was carried out near Stara Zagora in the period August 16-17. The process is completed with three gold welds.
