A Critical Review of SDG6 Performances in Iran in the Absence of Inclusive Policymaking

This statement, prepared by ArcDH, addresses the issue of access to "water and sanitation for all," as per Agenda 2030 of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG6) with reference to the lack of performance by the Islamic Republic of Iran and the impact on its minority nations, particularly the nation of Azerbaijan in Azerbaijani provinces in Iran (the Azerbaijanis). This is against a background where the minority nations in the country know that access to safe drinking water and sanitation is their human right, but they are deprived of it.

Uzbek home appliance manufacturer Artel joins United Nations Global Compact

This week, Artel Electronics LLC (Artel), Central Asia’s largest home appliance and electronics manufacturer, has become an official participant of the United Nation Global Compact (UNGC). Launched in 2000, the UNGC is a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation, and disclosure of responsible business practices. Artel becomes Uzbekistan’s third company to participate.

Ashgabat hosts multilateral consultations on UN special program on Aral Sea

Ashgabat city hosted multilateral consultations on the development of a UN Special Program for the Aral Sea Basin (UN SPAS), Trend reports Dec. 19 with reference to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The event was held in accordance with the resolution of the UN General Assembly 73/297 dated May 28, 2019, as well as in accordance with the decisions of the Council of Heads of the Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) dated Aug. 24, 2018.

Seminar on the role of the private sector in agriculture, food sector starts in Baku

Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a seminar on the role of the private sector in agriculture and the food sector has started in Baku, “Trend.az” reports.

The seminar is organized with the support of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan (Azərbaycan Respublikası Sahibkarlar (İşəgötürənlər) Təşkilatları Milli Konfederasiyası - ASK) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

Private sector in Azerbaijan accounts for up to 85% of GDP

The share of the private sector in Azerbaijan’s GDP has reached 84 percent, 76 percent of the employed population work in the private sector, President of Azerbaijan’s National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations Mammad Musayev said.

Musayev made the remark at an international conference on “Attracting private sector and ensuring investment activity in fulfilling sustainable development goals in the field of food and agriculture in Azerbaijan”, “Trend.az” reports from the event.
