The US State Department reacted to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's remarks regarding the urgency of border demarcation with Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department said during a briefing that the US continues to pay close attention to this issue.
The decision of the International Court of Justice was expected. The appeal of the Armenians to the court on these matters was of „very good sense“.
Thus, the international legist and diplomat Namik Aliyev commented to Day.Az the rejection by the court in The Hague of Armenia's claim regarding the removal of the Azerbaijani checkpoint and the armed forces of Azerbaijan as a whole from the Lachine road.
During a meeting with members of the government, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stressed that international organizations are aware of the new realities in the region after the war with Armenia in 2020, which resulted in the liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The 84th meeting of the government delegations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan’s Demarcation Commission took place on June 7-11, 2021, in the city of Almaty, stated on the website of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, Kazinform reports.
The sides continued the preparation of draft outcome documents on state border demarcation and discussed the draft agreement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the demarcation of the Kazakh-Uzbek state border.
The next meeting is set to take place in Uzbekistan.
Baku expects to complete the demarcation process of Azerbaijan-Russia state border within the next 2-3 years, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told reporters in Baku, “Trend.az” reports Dec. 9.
The minister noted that the issues of border demarcation continue successfully with the Russian side.
