Members of the European Parliament (EP) on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved a resolution calling on the leadership of the European Union to include the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC, elite units of Iran's army, literally “Army of Guardians of the Islamic Revolution”), also called “Sepah” or “Pasdaran”, ) on the list of terrorist organizations. The message is from the Reuters agency.

Currently the IRGC is designated as a terrorist organization by Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United States.

The document has a recommendatory nature and cannot oblige the EU to include the IRGC in the list of terrorists. 589 MEPs voted in support of the initiative, nine voted against, and 31 abstained.
