The US strongly supports the efforts made by Azerbaijan and Armenia to reach peace, Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesman of the US State Department said during a briefing, Trend reports.

„We strongly support efforts by Armenia and Azerbaijan to reach a durable and dignified peace, and we stand ready to continue to help facilitate this process“, Vedant Patel said.

Armenia is committed to the normalization of relations with Azerbaijan, said Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Trend reports.

He made the remark at the press conference ahead of the joint EU-US-Armenia high-level meeting to be held in Brussels today.

Every engagement of the US with Azerbaijan and Armenia is aimed at reaching a durable peace, US State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller said during a briefing on March 26, Trend reports.

„Our objectives in every engagement with the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan are to encourage them to work to bridge the differences between the two countries and reach a durable and lasting peace agreement“, he said.

US State Department’s Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Louis Bono will visit Azerbaijan this week, the US embassy in Baku told Trend.

“During his travel to the region this week, Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Louis Bono will meet with senior Azerbaijani officials to discuss efforts to achieve a durable peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” said the embassy.

The US continues to encourage Azerbaijan and Armenia to try to reach a durable agreement, US State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller said during a briefing on February 27, Trend reports.

„I don't have any announcements to make, but we continue to encourage both sides to try to reach a durable, lasting agreement“, he said.

Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers are set to meet in Germany on February 28 and 29.

We hope that a meeting will take place between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, at which all issues will be discussed, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan told reporters, Trend reports.

The principles of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan have been agreed upon, Yerevan has the political will to sign this document, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said, Trend reports.

“Essentially, the principles of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan have been agreed upon, and at the end of last year it seemed to us that we were very close to final agreement,” Pashinyan said in an interview with The Telegraph.

Azerbaijan and Armenia may sign a peace treaty in the first half of 2024, Trend reports, via “Fitch Solutions” (“Fitch group” company).

“We believe that a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia could be concluded as early as the first half of 2024”, “Fitch Solutions” stated.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have direct communication line, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at a press conference, Trend reports.

“We mentioned that there is a direct communication line between the administrations of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan. A similar channel exists between the foreign ministries of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as other departments,” he noted.

Azerbaijan is currently awaiting Armenia’s response to Baku’s comments on the latest draft of the peace proposal, Elchin Amirbayov, Azerbaijan's Presidential Representative for Special Assignments, said in an interview with The Guardian, Trend reports.
