President Tokayev: Kazakhstan accounts for 80% of transit land shipments along China – Europe route

Kazakhstan accounts for 80 percent of the transit land shipments along the China-Europe route, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during his meeting with Germany's President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in an expanded format, Trend reports.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR - Middle Corridor). President Tokayev emphasized the growing role of Kazakhstan as a significant regional hub, handling 80 percent of the transit land shipments along the China-Europe route. He highlighted the strategic importance of this transport and logistics corridor, which connects the markets of the East and West.

It was noted that approximately 1.7 million tons of cargo were transported along this route, doubling the figures from 2021.

The leaders also explored prospects for collaboration in agriculture and alternative energy sources within special economic zones and financial institutions.

Germany's President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is currently on a visit to Kazakhstan at the invitation of the country's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. His visit will last until June 21. As part of his visit, Frank-Walter Steinmeier will participate in the opening of the Kazakhstan-Germany Engineering Institute and the launch ceremony of test drilling at the plant for the production of green hydrogen by the Svevind Swedish-German company.
