The section of the Khoradiz (in Russian - Goradiz) - Agbend railway line, which was reported by the head of Azerbaijan Railways, existed in the past. Therefore, for illustration, we use a fragment of a map of the Soviet railway network from 1943. After the First Karabakh War of 1988-1943, the Armenian occupying forces destroyed the entire section of the railway in question. Today, Azerbaijan is rapidly rebuilding this railway line completely and anew - as they say on a "green meadow".

The construction of the Horadiz-Aghband railway in Azerbaijan rapidly continues, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Rovshan Rustamov told reporters on December 12, Trend reports.

According to Rustamov, over 40 percent of this route has already been completed.

"Throughout this route, all work on clearing mines has been completed. In parallel, work is underway to create security zones," he said.

The official added that this route will also contribute to the creation of a route to Nakhchivan.

The Horadiz (Goradiz) - Agbend section is a very important part of the so-called "Zangezur Corridor", which should create a direct connection between Baku and Nakhchivan and form the second branch of the so-called "Intermediate Corridor" on the "East-West" route.
