President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovshan Najaf discussed issues of cooperation in the gas sector with Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom Alexei Miller, Trend reports via Gazprom.
In January 2024, Azerbaijan increased gas production by 30 million cubic meters, said Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov on X, Trend reports.
"During this period, 2.3 billion cubic meters of gas were exported out of a total of 4.3 billion," he wrote.
In addition, the minister stressed that oil production for January amounted to 2.5 million tons, of which 2.1 million tons were sent for export.

The project company ICGB received the final joint certification decision as an independent transmission operator. The project company ICGB, responsible for construction of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) will be licensed as a transmission system operator (INGS Management license) in Greece, ICGB’s Executive Officer on the Bulgarian side Teodora Georgieva said in an exclusive interview with Trend.
If the construction of the gas interconnector between Greece and Bulgaria (IGB) is delayed even further, Bulgargaz will have to hold new negotiations for an alternative route for gas from Azerbaijan, Trend reports citing a statement from Bulgargaz.

After a sharp rise in fuel prices worldwide, new potential buyers of natural gas from Europe turned to Azerbaijan, Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov told Bloomberg.
According to Shahbazov, governments and companies in the east and south of Europe have expressed interest in buying gas from Azerbaijan.
The project company for construction of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), which envisages Azerbaijani gas supply to Bulgaria, has started the testing of infrastructure along the pipeline’s route, the ICGB AD company stated.
