Fresh look at Kazakhstan’s pushes to develop Middle Corridor in 2023

Kazakhstan is working to develop its section of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor), Trend reports.

According to official figures, 2.5 million tons of goods were transshipped through the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk along the TITR route in 11 months of 2023, a 107 percent increase over the previous year.

In 2023, Kazakh oil was carried along the Middle Corridor for the first time.

The Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabayev, introduced to the Minister of Transport and Digital Development of Azerbaijan, Rashad Nabiyev, the draft road map for the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), which is planned to be signed by its participants.

The visit of James Cleverly, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the UK, to Kazakhstan led to several thought-provoking developments, which have far-reaching consequences for a number of states. During the visit, some interesting comments were made regarding the view of the UK on the future of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor. Additionally, a matter of diversification of oil exports from Kazakhstan via Azerbaijan was also discussed.

Azerbaijan’s Port of Baku starts co-op with Georgia’s Batumi Multimodal Fertilizer Terminal

The Port of Baku and Batumi Multimodal Terminal have signed an Agreement to facilitate fertilizer transit via the Middle Corridor, Trend reports referring to the port's message on Twitter.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today between “Baku International Sea Trade Port” CJSC (aka Port of Baku) Trammo Inc., and “Wondernet Express Investment Group”, which owns and operates the Batumi Multimodal Fertilizer Terminal.
