Turkey's president on Saturday sent a letter to the head of the Armenian Patriarchate in Istanbul urging the development of good neighborly relations with Armenia.

In his message to Sahak Mashalian, head of the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the debate over the Armenian claims of the events of 1915, which has been politicized by third parties and turned into tools of interference, has helped no one.

In the world where ethnic and religious discrimination has become a regular phenomenon, Azerbaijan has remained as a model of intercultural and religious tolerance. In fact, multiculturalism and tolerance is a lifestyle of multinational and multiconfessional Azerbaijani people, as well as an integral part of the state policy, preserved throughout the centuries.

Nagorno-Karabakh has always been an integral part of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev said, during the opening of the Second Summit of Religious Leaders.

“In ancient times, Nagorno-Karabakh was Azerbaijani territory. On all ancient maps and on the maps of Tsarist Russia, all toponyms in Nagorno-Karabakh are of Azerbaijani origin”, stated President Aliyev, quoted by “Interfax Azerbaijan”.
