The President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with the CEO and founder of the Greek Copelouzos Group Dimitris Copelouzou. The meeting was also attended by the Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mohamed Shaker.

The spokesperson of the presidency commented after the meeting that during the conversation the implementation of projects for the production of electricity from renewable energy sources in Egypt and its transmission to Europe through Greece, through an underwater cable for energy connectivity, was discussed.

Copelouzos CEO expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet President El-Sisi. He praised Egypt's achievements in recent years, under the leadership of President El-Sisi, in the development of the country's infrastructure, especially in the electricity and renewable energy sectors.

Dimitris Kopelousos pointed out that he is looking forward to the development and implementation of new renewable energy projects in Egypt, especially with the abundance of solar and wind energy in the country. These steps would be in addition to energy connectivity with Greece, which is of particular importance given the current challenges Europe is facing in the energy sector.

The Minister of Electricity of the Arab Republic of Egypt reviewed the elements of cooperation with the Greek side to produce 9.5 GW of electricity from wind and solar energy in Egypt and transmit it to Europe through Greece through the construction of an undersea cable for energy connectivity.

He emphasized that Egypt already has a modern electricity infrastructure in place, operating in accordance with the national strategy with an integrated infrastructure for generating stations, transmission lines, distribution and control networks. This ensures the sustainability of electricity supply throughout the country and opens up prospects for the launch of regional energy connectivity projects.

President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of strengthening the joint cooperation with the Greek company for the generation and transmission of clean energy. This will bring serious benefits not only to Egypt and Greece, but also to Europe and Africa, consolidating Egypt's position as a regional center for trade in all forms of energy.
