Turkish lawmakers support sending troops to Libya

Turkish lawmakers approved a bill, authorizing the deployment of Turkish troops to Libya. That's what Radio Liberty writes about (https://www.svoboda.org/a/30357500.html ). The vote took place at Parliament's sitting on January 2-nd, 2020.

509 MPs took part in the vote, 325 voted in favor  of the bill and 184 opposed it, NTV reports (https://www.ntv.ru/novosti/2273820/ ).

Libyan Government of National Accord asks Turkey for air defense complexes

Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA), which resides in Tripoli, headed by Fayez Sarraj, has asked Turkey to provide it with air defense systems. The “Al Hadath” TV channel, announced this on December 26, 2019, citing its own sources.

According to “Al Hadath”, the Tripoli government has also requested that the Turkish Air Force has to provide air cover to the GNA's ground forces.

Turkey’s Erdogan says to send troops to Libya

President Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that Turkey will send troops to Libya now that the north African country requested it, and he will present deployment legislation to the Turkish parliament in January.

Erdogan visited Tunisia on Wednesday to discuss cooperation for a possible ceasefire in neighbouring Libya. In a speech Thursday, he said Turkey and Tunisia agreed to support Libya’s internationally recognised government of Fayez al-Serraj.

Libya has formally requested military assistance from Turkey

The Libya's Government of national accord has addressed a formal request for military assistance to Turkey.

“Reuters” reported this, citing a representative of the Libyan government.

According to him, the internationally recognized government of Libya has asked for military assistance from Ankara on “air, land and sea”.

Turkey has deployed special-purpose military units, military advisers and military equipment to assist the Government of National Accord in Libya, “Trend.az” reports, referring to RIA - Novosti.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said Ankara was ready to render any assistance to the Government of Libya's National Accord, including sending its troops there. Turkey does not consider Libyan National Army commander - Khalifa Haftar, being a legitimate leader.

A ship carrying 14,600 sheep turned over in the Black Sea

On November 25, 2019, in the Black Sea, off the Romanian coast, the “Queen Hind” ship with 14,600 sheep on board rolled over. Only 33 animals have been saved. This is reported by the television channel “Digi24”.

When the ship left the port of Midia, it overturned. All members of the crew were rescued. One of them was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment for hypothermia.
