Azerbaijani flag raised at NATO Maritime Security Centre of Excellence


The admission of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the fifth member of the NATO Maritime Security Centre of Excellence is an important process and demonstrates the commitment to shaping the future of maritime security together with the current member countries - Turkey, Greece, Portugal and Romania.

On June 2, a ceremony of raising the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Maritime Security Excellence Centre (NATO Maritime Security Centre of Excellence), located in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey.

As Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, at the ceremony, which was attended by the personnel of the Center, the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan was raised to the sounds of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Commander of the NATO Maritime Security Centre of Excellence, Captain 1st Rank Mehmet Cengiz Ekren, emphasized the role of maritime security in global trade, international cooperation and collective security, noting its crucial importance in today's globalizing world. It was emphasized that the admission of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the fifth member of the NATO Maritime Security Centre of Excellence is an important process and demonstrates the commitment to shaping the future of maritime security together with the current member countries - Turkey, Greece, Portugal and Romania.

It was confidently noted in the speech, that Captain 3rd Rank Murad Eldar oglu Muradov, appointed from 2025 for a period of three years to the position of "EDU/007 - Education Staff Officer" at the NATO Maritime Security Excellence Centre, will successfully apply the experience gained during his service in his country.

At the end of the ceremony in honor of the Republic of Azerbaijan joining the activities of the NATO Maritime Security Excellence Centre, the Azerbaijani officer was presented with a commemorative gift.
