The Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation - Vyacheslav Volodin: Relations between Russia and Iran are developing "along the entire perimeter", it is "extremely important for the parliaments of both countries to look for more and more new formats of cooperation, to deepen their interaction within the framework of parliamentary communications".
The Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation - Vyacheslav Volodin has invited the Chairman of the Assembly of the Islamic Council of Iran (Majlis) - Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf to take part in a conference of Speakers of Parliaments on countering terrorism and strengthening regional cooperation, which will be held in April in Moscow, reports TASS.
"We look forward to your participation in the Conference of Speakers of Parliaments to Counter Terrorism and Strengthen Regional Cooperation. […] We hope that you will find time in your schedule to take part in this conference in Moscow in April," Volodin noted during his meeting with Ghalibaf in Tehran. The Chairman of the State Duma reminded that China, Pakistan and Turkey will also take part in the conference.
He added that relations between Russia and Iran are developing "along the entire perimeter", it is "extremely important for the parliaments of both countries to look for more and more new formats of cooperation, to deepen their interaction within the framework of parliamentary communications".
"2023 is a very busy year, full of events within our common agenda, so I hope we will get through this by meeting more often, by discussing the [emerging] issues and most importantly by making decisions in interest of our citizens and countries", emphasized Volodin.
On his turn, Ghalibaf has confirmed that he will participate in the conference.
The Chairman of the State Duma is in the capital of Iran on an official visit, during which the third meeting of the committee on cooperation between the State Duma and the Majlis of Iran is taking place. The previous meeting of the commission took place in January 2020.
