The EU, through its structures, will allocate 10 billion euros for the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis said on January 29 in Brussels at the Global Gateway global investment forum.

Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin has met with Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for an Economy that Works for People, European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, reports Kazinform.

Preparations to overcome uranium mining legacy in Uzbekistan begin

Preparations to tackle the legacy of former uranium mining sites in Uzbekistan can begin, following the signing of a grant agreement today between the Environmental Remediation Account for Central Asia (ERA) and the government of Uzbekistan.

The €2 million grant will support a recently established Project Management Unit (PMU), which will be dealing with the environmental remediation of the former uranium mining sites at Yangiabad and Charkesar, located in the mountains east of the Uzbek capital Tashkent.

Turkmenistan to join Turkic Council as observer

The 8th summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) will take place on November 12, 2021 in Istanbul. From December 2009 to December 2019, from Central Asia, mainly from Turkmenistan, to China were delivered 294.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas, “Trend.az” reports, citing an information of the “Xinhua” news agency from the 6-th of January, 2020.

The “Xinhua” news agency cites data from the “PetroChina West Pipeline Company”. Turkmen gas operations have benefited more than 500 million people in 27 provincial-level administrative units, as well as in the Special Administrative Region of Xianggang, the release said.

Ashgabat city hosted multilateral consultations on the development of a UN Special Program for the Aral Sea Basin (UN SPAS), Trend reports Dec. 19 with reference to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The event was held in accordance with the resolution of the UN General Assembly 73/297 dated May 28, 2019, as well as in accordance with the decisions of the Council of Heads of the Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) dated Aug. 24, 2018.
