Uzbekistan is considering the issuing of a new tranche of Eurobonds in 2020. The Deputy Minister of Finance of the country, Ahadbek Haydarov, has informed “Gazeta.uz” about this.

According to him, the decision to issue a sovereign debt – Eurobonds, will be made depending on the market situation and the needs of the budget.

“We are preparing [to issue Eurobonds] for at least $ 500 million. If we go to the capital market, it will be at least for $ 500 million”, he noted.

Earlier, the Uzbek Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, announced in a joint comment (https://t.me/centralbankuzb/513 ) that no further issue of sovereign international bonds was planned in 2019.

“The issue of international bonds on the global capital markets is one of the most effective and promising market-based instruments for attracting external financing, both for the government of Uzbekistan and for state and private companies”, the announcement from July 12, 2019 noted.

Uzbekistan has issued the first ever in its history, five-year and ten-year Eurobond emission, totaling $ 1 billion in February 2019.
