Saudi Arabia eyes joining agreement on Azerbaijan’s export of “green” electricity

Saudi Arabia expressed its desire to join the process of exporting ‘green’ electricity from Azerbaijan to Europe, Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia, co-chair of the joint commission of the two countries Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih said on December 19, Trend reports.

Al-Falih made the remark at the 7th meeting of the Joint Commission on Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia held in Baku.

Azerbaijani Energy Ministry to co-op with ACWA Power in offshore wind energy

Within the groundbreaking ceremony of the Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant with a capacity of 240 MW, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of offshore wind energy was signed between the Ministry of Energy and ACWA Power of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Energy Ministry reports.

Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov and the Chief Investment Officer of ACWA Power Clive Turton signed the document.

“Khizi-Absheron” wind farm with an installed capacity of 240 megawatts will become the largest wind power plant in Azerbaijan, energy expert Ilham Shaban stated.

According to Shaban, to date, a hybrid power plant at the Gobustan alternative energy experimental polygon has been the largest wind power plant in the country.
