How is Azerbaijani gas distributed?

From January to June 2023, 11,800.0 million cubic meters (11,800,000,000 m3) of natural gas were exported, which is 4 percent more compared to the same period in 2022. The population consumed 2,527.7 million cubic meters of natural gas, or 5.1% more compared to the same period last year.

Taking into account the reserves at the beginning of this year, the volume of commercial production of natural gas in the country in January-June 2023 amounts to 18,177.8 million cubic meters (18,177,800,000 m3).

The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported to Trend on Tuesday that 29.9% of this volume was used in the country, 56.5% was exported, and 12.1% remained as a reserve at the beginning of July.

59.6 percent of natural gas consumption in the country was used for production needs, and 40.4 percent was sold to the population.

The population consumed 2,527.7 million cubic meters of natural gas, or 5.1% more compared to the same period last year, of which 38.6% in Baku, 2.8% in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 11.3% - in Absheron-Khizinsky, 6.1% - in Ganja-Dashkesan, 5.9 percent - in Lankaran-Astarin, 5.8 percent - in Gazakh-Tovuz, 5.7 percent - in Central Aran, 5 percent - in Guba - Khachmaz region, 4.9 percent - in Sheki-Zagatal region, 4.5 percent - in Karabakh region, 3.6 percent - in Mil-Mugan region, 3.4 percent - in Shirvan-Salyan region and 2.4 percent - in Mountainous-Shirvan economic areas.
