Azercosmos to provide countries of Central and East Africa with satellite internet

An agreement on long-term cooperation has been signed between Azercosmos OJSC and the Kenyan CommCarrier company, Trend reports via the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan.

The CommCarrier will serve its partners in the Central and East Africa region in the Ku band [primarily used for satellite communications] of the Azerspace-2 satellite.

Azercosmos provides satellite internet access to Azerbaijani section of Southern Caucasus Pipeline

The Azerbaijani section of the South Caucasus Gas Pipeline has been provided with access to satellite internet, Trend reports on December 15 via SOCAR Midstream Operations company.
In this regard, the company and the Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos OJSC) signed the cooperation agreement.

SOCAR Midstream Operations said that the use of satellite internet will improve the quality of operation of the South Caucasus Gas Pipeline by improving communication with remote areas.

Iran Shuts Down Internet as Protests Continue

Iran's supreme leader backed Sunday a government decision to increase fuel prices which sparked deadly protests over the weekend.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed "thugs" for damaging property in protests that left at least two people dead. His comments come as the government shut off internet across Iran in an attempt to quell protests over the raising of government-set gasoline prices by 50%.
