Kazakhstan will reorient cargoes located on the territory of Russia to Latvian ports, the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development reports.

This issue was discussed during the meeting between Berik Kamaliyev, vice minister of industry and infrastructural development, and Uldis Reimanis, deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia, with the participation of "KTZ" JSC NC and large forwarding companies from the Kazakh side and general directors of the three largest ports from the Latvian side (Liepaja, Riga, and Ventspils).

Kamaliyev noted the situation around Russia and Ukraine, the emergence of difficulties in the transportation of Kazakh cargo from the ports of the Russian Federation (St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Ust-Luga, and Taman) due to the refusal of the reloading transit ports of Antwerp, Hamburg, Pyrenees, Rotterdam and Muuga to accept Kazakh cargo.

The Kazakh side will redirect cargoes located on the territory of Russia to the Latvian ports of Riga, Venstpils and Liepaja, for which consent has been received from the seaports of Latvia.

The Latvian side presented the capacity and throughput of the Latvian ports and declared its readiness to receive Kazakh cargo.
