Mircea Geoana stated that he is grateful for Azerbaijan’s contribution to NATO’s “Resolute Support” mission in Afghanistan and for the role of Azerbaijan in preserving Europe’s energy security.
During his visit to Brussels, the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, met with NATO Deputy Secretary General - Mircea Geoana on 25 October 2019. The information is from the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The participants in the meeting exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO. Regional security issues were also discussed. Mircea Geoana stated that he is grateful for Azerbaijan’s contribution to NATO’s “Resolute Support” mission in Afghanistan and for the role of Azerbaijan in preserving Europe’s energy security. He also praised Azerbaijan's activity in the development of the co-operation in military education and on the interoperability platforms.
On his turn, the Minister of Defense of Azebaijan expressed his appreciation for NATO’s support for the territorial integrity of his country.
