Baku and Tashkent are deepening their military co-operation

During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed, related to the current state of affairs and the prospects for the development of joint defense, military education and military-technical co-operation were exchanged.

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov met with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Bahodir Kurbanov. Minister Kurbanov is visiting Azerbaijan in connection with his participation in the next session of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CIS member countries.

As reported by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the two countries have expressed their interest in deepening of the cooperation between their respective ministries of defense. It was noted that the active cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the field of security, serves to the promotion of peace and stability in the regions of the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed, related to the current state of affairs and the prospects for the development of joint defense and military education co-operation. Also, views on the strengthening of mutually beneficial relations in the field of military-technical co-operation were exchanged.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, a Plan for bilateral military co-operation for the year of 2020 was signed between the ministries of defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
