The innovation center for support of the development and implementation of information technologies - the “Mirzo Ulugbek Innovations Center” (MUIC) is merging with the “IT Park”. The statement of the technopark administration was quoted by Spot.az.

In fact, MUIC is being terminated, and its residents are moving to “IT Park”, retaining all the privileges they have - tax exemptions and exemption from compulsory deductions, including social security contributions up to 2028, including payment of import duties on imported equipment , parts for assembly, details, units, technological documentation, software not manufactured in Uzbekistan on lists approved in the established order.

It is expected that this step will allow to join efforts for further development of the IT culture and startup ecosystem, raising the quality level of Uzbekistan's IT products.

MUIC was established in June 2017. In two years, its leadership changed five times. In October 2018, the center became the National Project Management Agency (NPMA). Previously, NPMA received a stake in the charter capital of MUIC.

In March 2019, 33 companies were denied MUIC resident status. The main reasons for this are the failure to submit annual audit reports and voluntary refusal.

IT Park was established in 2019. The first residents were selected in the summer of this year. The technopark is run by Farhad Ibrahimov, who previously held the post of director of MUIC. In June, he said that MUIC and IT Park would complement each other.
