The ambassador of the CAR in Moscow, Leon Dodonou-Pounagaza, said that the country is interested in deploying a Russian military base on its territory, where 5,000 to 10,000 soldiers will be stationed. This is reported by the edition "Izvestia" (https://iz.ru/1519991/2023-05-29/posol-tcar-rasskazal-o-zhelanii-razmestit-v-strane-voennuiu-bazu-rf ).

The ambassador emphasized that the presence of Russian military instructors in the country has strengthened the combat capability of the army and the military-technical cooperation with Russia should continue. He noted that security cooperation issues will be discussed during the second Russian-African summit in St. Petersburg, which President Faustin-Archange Touadera intends to attend. The ambassador also noted that some countries, including France, expressed their dissatisfaction with the possible deployment of a Russian military base in the country, but stressed that this should not hinder cooperation between the partners.

Earlier, the media reported that it was planned to start assembling UAZ Patriot cars in the Central African Republic. It is noted that this car is great for driving on the country's poor road surface.
