Many years ago, when our satellite was sent into space, foreign engineers were involved in this work, since there were very few local specialists in our country. However, at present, the training of specialists in satellite control is carried out in Azerbaijan by the “Azercosmos” company, and the role of the Azerbaijan Engineering Academy in this process cannot be overestimated.
This was stated by Acting Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Space Agency („Azercosmos“) Dunay Badirkhanov during a speech at an event on the occasion of World Engineering Day, Trend reports.
„When Azercosmos began its operations in 2013, it had about 80 employees. Currently, Azercosmos has more than 230 employees, 35 percent of whom are women“, added D. Badirkhanov.
Speaking about the „Azersky 2“ program, he noted that the main goal of the program is to launch two high-resolution optical satellites of Azerbaijan in accordance with new requirements.
