Azerbaijan has put forward proposals on potential projects in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency within the European Commission’s document entitled “Recovery, resilience and reform: post 2020 Eastern Partnership priorities”, reports the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry on Nov. 19.

Preparations to overcome uranium mining legacy in Uzbekistan begin

Preparations to tackle the legacy of former uranium mining sites in Uzbekistan can begin, following the signing of a grant agreement today between the Environmental Remediation Account for Central Asia (ERA) and the government of Uzbekistan.

The €2 million grant will support a recently established Project Management Unit (PMU), which will be dealing with the environmental remediation of the former uranium mining sites at Yangiabad and Charkesar, located in the mountains east of the Uzbek capital Tashkent.

TAP transports first 5 bcm of natural gas to Europe

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) AG confirms that a total of 5 bcm of natural gas from Azerbaijan has now reached Europe via the interconnection point of Kipoi, at the Greek-Turkish border, where TAP connects to TANAP, Trend reports with reference to TAP AG consortium.

Luca Schieppati, TAP Managing Director, said that TAP’s role as a reliable transmission system operator on the European energy landscape.

We hope that a new agreement between the EU and Azerbaijan will be signed before the end of this year, Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said, Trend reports.

The minister made the statement at a press conference in Tbilisi.

“The EU Flag on Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku is a reflection of the bonds of solidarity and partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan. Stronger together! Sag Ol, Azerbaijan,” Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas said.

Projection of the European Union flag was placed on the Heydar Aliyev Center’s building in Baku, Azerbaijan on April 15.
