The IGB pipeline is fully operational, carrying all requested quantities of natural gas and ICGB is fully fulfilling its obligations under the transmission contracts. For the period October 1 - November 15, 2022, more than 1.5 billion kWh were cumulatively transferred through the intersystem gas connection Greece-Bulgaria.
Activities for the implementation of the stages specified in the Construction Permit for the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector are progressing and are being implemented by the Greek construction company AVAX.
These activities do not interfere with the independent functioning of the gas pipeline, which is why the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works MRDPW approved their separation into separate stages of construction.
The stages include finalizing work on three separate activities - completion of a backup fiber optic cable, construction of part of an access road and implementation of anti-erosion measures along the route.
The backup highway optical line, which has been physically built, is currently being tested and documentation is being completed in order to submit a request for commissioning - drawing up Act 15 and a corresponding application for the appointment of a State Acceptance Commission. The second stage - completion of the work on a service department road for access to a technological site for the Stara Zagora Gas Measuring Station, is currently being implemented.
The last activity, which includes the implementation of anti-erosion protection measures, is in the process of implementation. Currently, temporary measures are being implemented to strengthen the route of the gas pipeline for the autumn-winter period, when the impact of rains on the upper soil layer may be intense, until the delivery of materials according to the approved technical design.
