The CSTO peacekeeping mission in Kazakhstan has been successfully completed, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during the parliamentary session.

According to him, the phased withdrawal of troops will begin on January 13, 2022 and will take about ten days.

We remind you that Tokayev turned to the CSTO in connection with the mass riots in the country, which reached their culmination on January 5, 2022.

“These terrorist gangs are international, they have undergone serious training abroad and their attack on Kazakhstan can and should be seen as an act of aggression”, Tokayev told an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council on January 5th.

“In this regard, based on the Collective Security Treaty, today I appealed to the heads of state of the CSTO countries to assist Kazakhstan in overcoming this terrorist threat. In itself, it is not a threat, but an undermining of the territorial integrity of the country”, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the time.
