The Chinese minister reaffirmed his firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine by the PRC and noted the strategic nature of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China - Wang Yi - assured the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine - Dmitry Kuleba of "China's readiness to make all [necessary] efforts to end the war on Ukrainian soil through diplomatic channels, including as permanent member of the UN Security Council". This was stated by Wang Yi during a telephone conversation with Kuleba, held on March 1, 2022. The news was spread by the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Facebook.
"Kuleba has asked Wang Yi to use the level of relations between Beijing and Moscow to force Russia to stop armed aggression against the Ukrainian people," the statement said.

The statement said that Minister Kuleba emphasized China's distancing from the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to bring the strategic containment forces to keep the Russian army on special combat duty.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine informed Wang Yi about the development of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the shelling of the civilian infrastructure and the fact that some people were killed among the local population.
According to Minister Kuleba, the best guarantee for the security of Chinese citizens, as well as other foreign nationals in Ukraine, is to put pressure on the Russian government to end military aggression and, above all, "barbaric shelling of peaceful Ukrainian cities".
