Import of Russian grain triples in Azerbaijan

Some 857,000 tons of grain and cereals have been imported from Russia to Azerbaijan since the beginning of the second half of 2019, which is three times more than in the same period of 2018, Trend reports on Nov. 19 referring to the Russian media outlets.

The share of grain which is exported to Azerbaijan amounted to about four percent of the total volume of grain which is exported from Russia.

Armenian language courses are organized in Azerbaijan

The Center for International Relations Analysis in Baku (Beynəlxalq Münasibətlərin Təhlili Mərkəzi) has announced that it is organizing courses in Armenian language, reports the Independent News Agency “Turan”.

A press release from the Center (called by the INA “Turan” - "semi-official structure") says that the courses are for young scientists and researchers, who want to learn the language at an elementary level.

The occupied territories of Azerbaijan are included in the list of risk areas for travel

The information provided by the organization, notes that in the countries to which Azerbaijan applies, there is an easy access to medical care, and a low risk of diseases spread through food and water, Azeri-Press Agency reports (APA).

LUKOIL is currently not considering participating in the Umid-Babek project in Azerbaijan

“LUKOIL” will not participate in the “Umid-Babek” project in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea so far. “LUKOIL” president Vagit Alekperov told this to the reporters on the sidelines of the “VTB Capital” forum – “Russia is Calling!”.

“So far, we are not looking at “Umid-Babek”, SOCAR has decided to develop it independently”, said Alekperov, according to “Interfax”.

104702 children were born this year in Azerbaijan

Between January and September 2019, the district (city) departments of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan registered the birth of 104702 children.

According to Azerbaijani news agency “Trend”, the birth rate per thousand persons remained unchanged (14.1), compared to the reporting period for the previous year 2018.

Boys were 53.2 percent of the newborns and girls were 46.8 percent. 2,454 of the newborns were twins, 72 were triplets, and in four cases were born four twins at a time.

About two hundred people have been killed, while the protests in Iran still take place

According to Amnesty International, at least 106 people have been killed in 21 cities of Iran in a brutal crackdown on the protests, which take place already several days.

Referring to “unofficial news reports from various sources”, the BBC reports that some 200 people have been killed in the country in the last five days and three thousand have been injured.

Iran Shuts Down Internet as Protests Continue

Iran's supreme leader backed Sunday a government decision to increase fuel prices which sparked deadly protests over the weekend.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed "thugs" for damaging property in protests that left at least two people dead. His comments come as the government shut off internet across Iran in an attempt to quell protests over the raising of government-set gasoline prices by 50%.

Iran racked by protests after massive gas price hike

Protests broke out throughout Iran Saturday after the government moved to effectively hike the price of gasoline by 50 percent overnight.

Angry protesters parked cars in the streets to block traffic in more than a dozen cities, and crowds numbering in the thousands marched throughout the country, many chanting, “Down with the dictator” and other anti-government slogans.

Some shouted, “The enemy is here!” a reference to the government’s continued vilification of the US.

Armenia and Russia postponed gas tariff hike until April 2020
