Baku - Supsa oil pipeline can resume transportation at any time.

This was stated by the vice president of "bp" for communications and external relations in the Caspian and Middle Eastern region - Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli.

„Currently, we do not use the pipeline and all exports take place via Baku - Tbilisi - Ceyhan. The commissioning of "Baku - Supsa" depends on the requests of carriers to load tankers in Supsa. If we receive requests, we will be able to start deliveries right away, as "Baku - Supsa" is included in the network. When the pipeline is hot tapped, it takes about 3 months to resume work," he said.

We remind you that the supply of oil through the pipeline was stopped in March 2022 and resumed after repair works and adjustments carried out in the period April 1-17, 2022. After that, the transportation of oil through "Baku - Supsa" was stopped again. In connection with the shutdown of "Baku - Supsa", the entire volume of Azerbaijani oil for export is transported through the "Baku - Tbilisi - Ceyhan" oil pipeline.

The "Baku - Supsa" (Western Route Export Pipeline) transported oil from the Caspian region: from the Sangachal terminal near Baku to the Georgian port of Supsa on the Black Sea coast. The official opening of the oil pipeline took place on April 17, 1999 at the Supsa oil terminal.

The length of the oil pipeline is 837 kilometers. Its throughput exceeds seven million tons of oil per year (145 thousand tons per day). The operator of the oil pipeline is "bp" ("British Petroleum"). The final point of oil transportation is the Black Sea port of Supsa in Georgia. The oil is then transported by tankers to consumers.
