Georgia will take part in NATO naval exercises

It is reported that the maneuvers will be carried out on the Black Sea and the Danube River and will involve more than 2.2 thousand military personnel and 135 units of military equipment. The exercise scenario involves conducting search and rescue operations, combating illegal activities at sea and river, providing assistance to ships in distress, and ensuring the security of critical infrastructure.

Georgia, together with 12 NATO member countries and partners, will take part in the international naval exercise “Sea Shield 24”, which will be held in Romania from April 8 to 21, the press service of the Romanian Ministry of Defense reported.

According to the information, in addition to Georgia and Romania, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the USA, Turkey and France will take part in the exercises.

Military exercises “Sea Shield” has been running since 2015 and “Sea Shield 24” is the most challenging event organized by the Romanian Navy. These exercises help promote Romanian initiatives at the regional and international levels, as well as improve cooperation between the armed forces of the participating countries.
