Alexei Arestovich: Ukraine no longer wants NATO to close the Ukrainian sky

"We only need enough weapons. We will do great on our own. We don't need Western soldiers here. But they will not make such a move unless a nuclear strike is carried out, "Arestovic said.

The issue of the closure of the skies over Ukraine by NATO forces is no longer relevant, said the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine - Alexei Arestovich in an interview with "Medusa", which was published on April 24, 2022.

The journalist asked "whether Kyiv is leading negotiations with NATO to close the skies over Ukraine or is this a thing of the past".

"No, this is a closed question. What we need is an air defense system that is already being provided to us. And we will close the sky ourselves", Arestovic explained.

He also answered the question whether Ukraine is negotiating with Western countries for military assistance other than arms supplies.

"We only need enough weapons. We will do great on our own. We don't need Western soldiers here. But they will not make such a move unless a nuclear strike is carried out, "Arestovic said.

Following Russia's full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, Ukraine has repeatedly called on Western countries to close Ukrainian airspace to Russian missiles and combat aircrafts, and has asked for arms and air defense supplies.

As of April 24, 2022, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, AFU has destroyed 179 enemy planes and 154 helicopters of the occupying Russian forces in the Ukrainian sky. (https://www.facebook.com/GeneralStaff.ua/posts/301686115477807 ).

In addition, the Ukrainian air defense shoots down Russian missiles over its territory on a daily basis. (https://www.facebook.com/PvKPivden/posts/7224825304259535 ).
