Armenia wants to buy the Georgian port of Batumi


According to the newspaper “Jamanak Daily” (“Time”), various circles in Armenia are trying to organize a fundraiser to buy the port. This would allow the unimpeded delivery of goods in the country.

There are interested circles in Armenia,  in buying the port of Batumi, which Georgia is preparing to sell for $ 600 million. This is reported by the Armenian newspaper “Jamanak Daily” (“Time”).

According to the newspaper, various circles in Armenia are trying to organize a fundraiser to buy the port. This would allow the unimpeded delivery of goods in the country.

“The idea of creating a joint-stock company is being discussed. Diaspora businessmen can become part of it, but someone to invest a large startup capital is necessary. And that is not the case at the moment”, the newspaper notes.

The Kazakh state-owned company “KazMunayGas” is the owner of the Batumi port.
