The liberated territories of Azerbaijan will contribute to the further development and expansion of the TRACECA corridor, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev said.

Nabiyev made the remark during the 15th session of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission held via videoconference, at which the chairmanship of the commission passed to Bulgaria.

Preparations to overcome uranium mining legacy in Uzbekistan begin

Preparations to tackle the legacy of former uranium mining sites in Uzbekistan can begin, following the signing of a grant agreement today between the Environmental Remediation Account for Central Asia (ERA) and the government of Uzbekistan.

The €2 million grant will support a recently established Project Management Unit (PMU), which will be dealing with the environmental remediation of the former uranium mining sites at Yangiabad and Charkesar, located in the mountains east of the Uzbek capital Tashkent.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) will prioritize Uzbekistan’s transformation to market-based economy through reforms, regional connectivity and cooperation, and sustainable and inclusive growth in planning its assistance, an ADB representative told Trend.

The representative stated that ADB assists Uzbekistan with innovative financing instruments such as partial credit guarantees and public-private partnership schemes, consistent with Uzbekistan’s pursuit of engaging private investments in public infrastructure projects.

Iran warns against illegal entry of trucks into Azerbaijani territory

The Iranian Transportation Ministry has issued a notice to haulage companies warning them against any illegal entry of their trucks into the Azerbaijani territories liberated in a war with Armenia last year.

According to Press TV, the notice released on Wednesday warned that Iranian transit trucks travelling from Iran through Armenia should enter liberated territories in Karabakh region, including the city of Lachin, only through the official border checks erected on the border by Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan, Turkey ink deal for additional gas supply

Azerbaijan and Turkey have reached an agreement for supply of additional 11 billion cubic meters of gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline, said Turkey’s minister of energy and natural resources Fatih Dönmez.

Dönmez dismissed the allegations that Turkey buys gas expensively, noting BOTAS’ natural gas purchase price is in line with the current indicators in the international market and is below $1300 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Azerbaijan’s ASCO to Deliver Carbamide from Turkmenistan to Bulgaria

The Natavan dry cargo ship, which is part of the transport flotilla of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), is transporting carbamide from the Turkmen port of Bektash to the port of Varna in Bulgaria, ASCO representatives reported.

This marks Natavan’s first voyage outside the Caspian Sea after its overhaul, according to the report.

The ASCO said electrical and welding work was carried out during the renovation on the main deck and in the engine room.
